Second grade students created observational self-portraits. They then colored and painted their drawings. Next, students added a colorful frame that described them on the inside. With black paint, second graders added personal and important details about themselves to the frame.

Welcome Back
I hope that everyone had a wonderful summer.
We have started the year in art at a fast pace. Already we have talked about several different artists and techniques. We have even begun experimenting with oil pastels and paints in several grade levels.
In the comming weeks we will begin to finish some of our artwork, so check back here, Sunderland Art Spot, for some pictures of great SES student work.

Stop Motion Animation
Made possible through a grant from MSET (Maryland Society for Educational Technology), Mrs. Sanchez's fifth grade class created five stop motion animations based on a fable, tall tale or fairytale. Students created the characters, props and backgrounds in Art class. Then students manipulated their characters and made their animations under the supervision of Mrs. Sturge.
