Respecting materials.
One of my biggest pet peeves is broken erasers. Everyone in the art room shares materials and when they get broken apart no one benefits. Let's respect materials and have a great year

Little Green, grade 1
First grade students read Keith Baker's "Little Green" and drew how their hummingbird flew and flew.

Paper batik
Fourth grade students painted bright tempera paintings of fruit that they outlined in chalk. Once the tempera was dry, they smeared the chalk and coated the paper with India ink. After the ink dried, students put their paintings under running water to reveal their batik style paintings.

Animals in their habitats
Students in second grade created animals in their habitats. First, they drew an animal in their habitat by looking at a photograph. Next, they sculpted their animal out of air dry clay and painted it. Finally, second graders colored a habitat on a folded paper for their sculpture's habitat.
